Service Description
It is with deep gratitude that I give credit to and acknowledge the lineage in which I was shown how to offer this ceremony. To my teacher Rachelle Garcia, who was taught by her Mother-in-law, Clara Alfaro Peña who comes from a family of traditional medicine people from Guanajuato and Hidalgo, Mexico. Pregnancy, labor and birth are all expansive states that open up a woman's body in so many ways. This traditional ceremony is used to complete the Rite of Passage of Birth and give honour and reverence to the Mother for growing, birthing and nurturing life. The rebozo wrapping also helps bring Mother back into her body while offering her a safe container to release any emotions associated with her pregnancy, birth and her initiation into Motherhood. Rebozo closings can offer the opportunity for gentle healing in a grounded way. Along with the physical closing of the body, the ceremony is used to call the Mother's spirit back home after walking the threshold between worlds during labor and birth. This is an opportunity to slow down, integrate, and be witnessed in your transition into Motherhood with beauty, intention and honour. This ceremony is held at Mother's house and includes an initial 30 minute consultation over the phone to discuss details and intentions. The ceremony can be as simple or elaborate as desired and can be an intimate setting with just your partner/friend/companion and self or can include a small gathering to witness you in your transformation. The ceremony will be 2.5 hours in length and include a nourishing snack and elixir to enjoy afterwards. This ceremony is appropriate during ANY time in the postpartum from 6 weeks to 6 years and beyond. It is never too late to celebrate this sacred passage.
